Does Bathmate Work?

Yes, the same way every penis pump works. The Bathmate penis pump is a hydro penis pump. You fill the cylinder with warm water in the bath or shower, seal it against your pubic bone and push it in. Each push squeezes water out through the release valve on top, which creates a vacuum. The vacuum improves blood flow into the erectile tissue and the penile tissue around it, so the penis fills up and gets harder.

That is the same thing every pump does, and it is why pumps can help with harder erections and, over months, may increase penis size a little. Doctors use vacuum pumps for erectile dysfunction, and studies show daily pumping protects size after prostate surgery. For penis enlargement in men with a normal penis, the research is thin. What pumps have not shown in studies is making a normal penis longer. Girth has barely been studied. That is why we look at our own app data, where steady pumpers gain girth over months.

Is Water Better Than Air?

Bathmate says water is "safer and more effective than air-based pumps." We have not found a study that compares the two. Both of our coaches have pumped for years with water and air, and neither thinks water gives better results. Baseem pumps with air himself. Water does have real upsides. It feels warm and soft, it seals without lube, and it fits a daily routine in the shower. Bathmate says water gives even pressure around the penis. In an air pump, a soft silicone sleeve does the same job, as Baseem found when testing 50 pumps. The vacuum underneath is the same.

Hydro7 vs Hydromax vs HydroXtreme Results

Bathmate sells three main lines. The Hydro7 is the entry pump, at $99 (regular $119). The Hydromax costs from $139.99. The HydroXtreme, from $219.99, adds a hand ball pump so you can make more pressure. The vacuum works the same way in all three, so your results depend on how you use it, not on the model. More pressure from the HydroXtreme also means more room to overdo it.

Bathmate Results by Week and Month

There is no Bathmate-only data, because no study has tracked Bathmate users. But a pump is a pump. Here is what 3,490 men who logged 31,227 hours of pumping in the PE Trainer app measured, month by month.

Erect girth, men who logged 10 or more pump hours and measured that month. Typical means the middle man. Self-reported, not a clinical trial. Results vary.

How Much Bigger Does Bathmate Make You?

About as much as any pump used the same way. Bathmate says its pumps give gains in both girth and length. In our data, girth gains come first. Length gains from a pump alone are small. About 1 in 4 pumpers in our app had gained half an inch of girth or more by month 12. The more hours men put in, the more of them gained girth. Here is the share of men who measured thicker months later, by how much they pumped.

Share who gained any erect girth between their first and latest measurement. Some men with no pumping show small gains because measuring is never perfect. Results vary.

Men who message us after 12 to 16 months of pumping and extending report an average gain of 1.6 inches, length and girth combined, and often more when they stay consistent. In our app, the top 10% of men who did both for a year gained 1.6 inches or more combined.

Are Bathmate Results Permanent?

The size right after pumping is a temporary increase, not a permanent gain. It is blood and fluid. Bathmate itself says these short-term effects fade within a few hours. Long-term gains are a slow change in the tissue, built over months of consistent use, and not every man gets lasting results. Two Bathmate owners in our Discord put it plainly.

Bathmate Side Effects, Fluid Retention and Swelling

Pumping pulls fluid into the skin, not only blood into the shaft. That is the puffy, water-balloon look after a hard session, and the "donut" under the head. It is the most common side effect of every pump, and it is what fools men into thinking they gained. Our coaches say higher pressure mostly buys more swelling, not more growth. Our app data agrees: men who pumped at 5 to 7 inHg gained as often as men who pumped much harder. Other side effects of over-pumping are red spots, blisters, numbness and, for a few days, weaker erections. Bathmate warns about this too: applying too much suction can be uncomfortable at best and risk injury at worst.

The Good

The member who loves his Bathmate also used an extender and a hanger, and he pumps slowly so his penis never gets more than about a quarter inch bigger than its current size. That careful style is exactly what our data rewards.

The Bad

The pattern is clear. Men who did well were careful with pressure and combined the pump with other training. Men who did badly often pumped hard or could not see their pressure.

How to Get Better Results From Any Pump

Whatever pump you own, these habits decide whether you get the best results or none. Each one comes from 375 men in our app who pumped and measured their girth months apart, or from our coaches.

• Moderate pressure. Men at 5 to 7 inHg gained as often as men who pumped much harder.
• Short sessions. Men whose pump days ran 10 to 20 minutes did at least as well as men who pumped longer.
• 2 to 3 days a week to start. That group had the highest share who gained girth and the lowest share who lost it.
• Release often. Never stay in more than 10 minutes without letting all the air out.
• Pair it with an extender for length. A pump mostly builds girth and an extender mostly builds length. In our app, men who only extended gained +0.00" of girth in a typical case, and men who also pumped gained +0.12".
• Do not quit early. Only 35% of men who start pumping are still logging sessions a month later, and only 15% at six months.

A Simple Bathmate Routine

Bathmate's own routine is a short warm-up, then up to three rounds of pumping with a rest in between, no more than 15 minutes in total, and no more than 5 days per week, for example 2 days on, 1 day off, 3 days on, 1 day off. That matches our data well. We would change three things, especially if you are using the Bathmate for the first time.

1. Get semi-hard before you go in, so the shaft fills and not the loose skin.
2. Release the pressure fully at least every 5 to 10 minutes, then pump back up.
3. Start with 2 to 3 days a week and add days only if your morning erections stay strong.

Is Bathmate Worth It?

It depends on what you want from a pump.
