A regular or normal condom is about 52 to 54 mm wide and about 180 to 190 mm long. The single most common width is 53 mm.

Makers are allowed to be off by 2 mm either way. Some brands also list a wider width higher up the condom. We use the width at the base, where the condom grips.

06What Size Is a Magnum Condom?

A Trojan Magnum is only 2 mm wider than a regular Trojan where it grips, at the base. It flares wider higher up and is about 10 mm longer.

Who should wear a Magnum? By our fit rule, a 55 mm condom fits an erect girth of about 4.55 to 5.20 inches. Trojan says a Magnum may fit best if you are 7 inches or longer with at least 4.75 inches of girth (Trojan).

Does the toilet paper roll test work? No. Trojan says a tube is about 5.5 inches around, MyONE says about 5 inches inside, and rolls differ by brand. Measure your girth instead.

Too thick for a Magnum XL? MyONE makes widths up to 64 mm and MY.SIZE up to 72 mm.

07Small and Snug Fit Condoms

If your erect girth is under about 4.6 inches, small condoms will fit you better than regular ones. Small condoms, also sold as snug or close fit, are 45 to 51 mm wide. That size is common. Measured by doctors, 47 out of 100 men fit a snug condom best.

Why it matters. A condom that is too loose can wrinkle, slide and slip off.
The smallest condom size is 45 mm, from MyONE and MY.SIZE PRO. Most snug condoms are 47 to 51 mm.
Snug condoms are often shorter, about 160 to 180 mm, which suits most men who need them.

08Large and XL Condoms

If your erect girth is over about 4.8 inches, regular condoms will feel tight. Large condoms are 55 to 58 mm wide. Extra large condoms are 60 mm and up.

What is the biggest condom size? The widest we found is MY.SIZE PRO at 72 mm. Next are EXS Jumbo and Pasante Super King at 69 mm. In the US, MyONE goes up to 64 mm.
Are Magnums the biggest condoms? No. The Magnum XL is 58 mm at the base, and 4 condoms on our list are wider.
Large condoms are longer too, often 190 to 210 mm, so they also suit long men.

09How to Know Your Condom Size

Measure your girth, then read the nominal width on the box. It takes a soft tape and about a minute.

Measure your girth. Around the thickest part of the shaft, fully erect.

Read the box. The size in mm is the flat width of the condom.

Get fully erect. Girth changes a lot with arousal.
Wrap a soft tape around the thickest part of the shaft. Snug, not tight. No tape? Use a string or a strip of paper, mark it, and lay it on a ruler.
Base and middle very different? Measure both and use the average.
Measure 2 or 3 times on different days and use the middle number.
Length is optional. Measure on top from your body to the tip, ruler resting on the skin.

What size condom do I need?

Measure your erect girth. Your condom should be about 56 mm wide if your girth is 5 inches, and about 51 mm if it is 4.5 inches. Our calculator gives your exact size, your fit range and the condoms that match it.

What is a regular condom size?

A regular condom is about 52 to 54 mm wide and about 180 to 190 mm long. It fits best if your erect girth is about 4.6 to 4.8 inches. The WHO lists 49 mm and 53 mm as its standard widths.

What size is a Magnum condom?

A Trojan Magnum is 55 mm wide at the base and flares to 62 mm higher up. It is 180 to 200 mm long. A regular Trojan ENZ is 53 mm wide. The Magnum XL is 58 mm at the base.

Are condoms one size fits all?

No. Condoms come in widths from 45 mm to 72 mm. In one study, 45% of men said condoms fit them poorly, and those men had more breaks and slips (Crosby 2010).

What happens if a condom is too small?

It is hard to put on, it squeezes, and it is more likely to break. One study found each extra centimeter of girth raised the chance of breaking by 50 to 100 percent with regular condoms (Smith 1998).

What happens if a condom is too big?

It can wrinkle, slide up and slip off during sex. The WHO says condoms that are too large or too small for the penis appear to raise the risk of failure.

Does condom length matter?

Much less than width. Most condoms are 170 to 200 mm long, longer than most men, and they do not need to unroll all the way. If a condom is shorter than you by more than half an inch, pick a longer one.

How do I turn my girth into a condom size?

Multiply your erect girth in mm by 0.44. A 5 inch girth is 127 mm, so your condom should be about 56 mm wide, with a fit range of 53 to 60 mm.

What is the biggest condom size?

The widest condom we found is MY.SIZE PRO at 72 mm. EXS Jumbo and Pasante Super King are 69 mm. In the US, MyONE makes widths up to 64 mm, and the widest Trojan is the Magnum XL at 58 mm.

What is the smallest condom size?

The narrowest condoms are 45 mm, from MyONE and MY.SIZE PRO. Common snug condoms like LifeStyles Snugger Fit and Glyde Slimfit are 49 mm.

Are Magnums the biggest condoms?

No. A Magnum is 55 mm at the base and the Magnum XL is 58 mm. Pasante King Size, EXS, MyONE and MY.SIZE all make condoms from 60 mm up to 72 mm.
