This is the closest comparison on our site, so here is the honest version. Both are one-piece electric pumps with a screen, both show your pressure, both time the session, both re-pump when the seal leaks, and both charge over USB. Does the CalExotics pump show your pressure?
Yes. Their manual describes an LCD showing battery life, pressure, mode and workout time, so anyone telling you it has no readout is wrong. Their documentation does not state which pressure units it uses. Epic shows the live number in inHG or cmHG and one button swaps between them.
Does it hold the pressure when the seal leaks?
Yes, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Their manual says the pump will automatically re-pump to maintain pressure if it detects air leakage during the exercise modes. Epic does the same. Treat that as a tie and decide on the things that actually differ.
Can I use either one in water?
Epic runs in water exactly the way a hydropump does, and switches to air when you would rather not get in the shower. The Advanced Automatic Smart Pump is an air device. CalExotics do sell a waterproof pump in the same range, but it is a different model with a different feature set, so check the model number before you buy on that basis.
How long can a session run?
Their smart mode runs a recorded pressure for 20 minutes, and holding pressure is capped at 10 minutes. That is plenty for a normal session, since 15 to 20 minutes is the sensible range anyway. Epic runs the mode you chose without those caps.
How much pressure is safe?
