This pad is a MUST!!! The pressure made by the vacuum would dig down the cylinders hard edge onto your pubic bone and that's not a great feeling. With this pad you get that cushion and it improves in achieving a vacuum seal. You also will build resilience to the discomfort of that pressure with time and the more you use it the higher the vacuum pressures you will sustain. If you have not bought the electric vacuum pump what are you waiting for? Its annoying to achieve a vacuum and realize that there is a constant vacuum leak and you have to constantly operate the pump. NOT fun to do. I have the electric pump and I even fall asleep with it on. so its a MUST.
